Mens Week - Aaron Young

Today we shine the spotlight on artist Aaron Young, we're really into the unique techniques he uses to create his abstract work. It's best described on the Gagosian Gallery website, "Aaron Young's artworks rely on the after-effects of dynamic, energetic, and sometimes even dangerous performances. He hires participants stereotyped as marginalized rebels, such as skateboarders and motorcycle riders, to perform various stunts in exhibition spaces on specially prepared platforms... Young uses destructive actions as generative force; the traces of his ephemeral acts are recorded as videos, drawings, sculptures, and photographs to constitute artistic artifacts."

Check out this video from Matt Blacks "Reflections" where Young talks about his process and explains his new series.

Here are some images from his "Arc Light" series.

Young also contributed to James Franco's "Rebel" show in Los Angeles.

A few more pieces from various collections.
